The Sliverwave line kicked off in 1961 and existed through the late 80s. Silverwave denoted some sports watch characteristics, however were not as rugged as divers or as technical as the chronographs. This particular example has a very clean bright dial, suitable for the office. The hands are clean as well, however the lume of the hands do have a few stains. The 4 o’clock screw down crown suggest a sports watch however the overall aesthetic is still formal enough for the office. The case has plenty of scratches and is well worn. The hooded lugs gives it a distinctly vintage 1970s look. The leather strap is handcrafted and very soft with a large grain pattern.
The combination of a reliable quartz movement, day and date complication, clean aesthetics, with tool watch characteristics make it an excellent daily wearer. It also wears a bit larger than the typical formal ‘office watch’ of the 1970s.
