The Seikomatic 6216 is essentially a Grand Seiko 6245/6 or GS62 as it’s sometimes referred to, without the fine chronometer adjustment. As far as performance is concerned, it is as high of performance as you could get at the time. It’s styling is also more utilitarian than the dressier GS62 which makes it appealing for everyday use. The Seikomatic 6216 movement is highly jeweled, has hacking and is beautifully finished. The case on the other hand is tall and blocky, fitted with a straight walled new old stock acrylic crystal. The example for sale is quite worn; case has plenty of dings and dial has pinking, scratches and chipping along the edges. However, the movement is a true sleeper and performs very well - both the sweep seconds wheel and escape wheel have been replaced with new parts. However worn and patinied the watch is, it has a certain charm to it. It’s ware is quite even and it has an overally quality of being well loved. The fully padded leather strap is hand cut, stitched and finished, giving the piece a very organic feel, and very much from another era.

The 6216 is a very capable every day watch. It has automatic winding and a day and date wheel. It would work well at the office and could be dressed up or down. It would look fitting among vintage workwear for example. It also has a very dressy quality to it, perhaps from the polished hand and markers making it a good contender for a formal occasion as well. As far as sizing, The 9000 case is quite thick. The body of the case is slab like giving it a blocky look. The crystal is quite large as well for a vintage piece.
