This is an early example of the Cal.5206 from 1971, just one year after its launch. It was one of the most advance movements in seikos catalogue at the time of inception. It was so well engineered that even after it went out of production in 1980, Seiko revived the Cal.52XX movement base design in the 4S Family, which was in production from 1992 until 2015! This particular example has a near perfect dial, hands and markers. The case is worn, has marks and may have been polished at some point, but trushing is legible and its fitted with a new old stock crystal. The movement keeps accurate time and the amplitude is healthy. As for time setting, the crown is very shallow and is recessed in the first position. This gives the model 6060 profile a very sleek appearance, however, hand winding in the first position is not easy so it is recommended to wind via the second position date change. Alternatively, simply putting the watch on and going about the day will let the automatic do its job.
The 52xx series movements from Daini are incredibly compact, installed in equally compact cases making them wear quite small. Further, this crystal is 28mm as opposed to the more common 30mm of that era. This is an excellent watch for someone who whats classic proportion(small), closer to that of the 50s, yet having the robustness and technicality of a more modern automatic watch. The LM Specials are also a great unisex watch.
