Seikomatic-R

This mid 60s Seikomatic-R is was a late comer to the Seikomatic line and best represents the tail end of the lines technical development while still retaining a classic formal look. The champagne silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition. There is no loose varnish and just a few spots with a bit of patina around the calendar. The delphine hands are in excellent condition and the case still has sharp lines and clean brushing. The caseback is well worn however still legible with some Kanji engravings. The movement in this particular example is in near prefect condition and runs very well. The acrylic crystal is a New Old Stock replica from GS and is true to the fit and finish from the original Seiko crystal. It also has excellent distortion to reinforces that classic look. Further, watches of the 60s we’re starting to add in functionality such as day/date calendars, automatic and hand winding, often at the cost of size where previous three-handers were quite small. This being, the late Seikomatics tend to wear a bit bigger then their predecessors and those that followed. For this reason, the Seikomatic-R is an excellent choice if a larger vintage piece with classic styling is desired, perhaps even a daily wearer as its functionalities include a day and date calendar and automatic winding.
