Seiko Quartz Midsized Diver

The 6458-6000 is the midsized counterpart to the 7548-7000 however with a more modern 7 jeweled quartz movement. It came a bit after the 7548 as well. The watch has a large grippy screw down crown crown and bi-directional rotating bezel. Everything functions as expected other than the rotating bezel having a click-gap between the 55 marker and lume pip. The bezel clicks until it reaches the market at the 55 seconds then slides the rest of the way to the lume pip triangle. At some point in the watches lifetime, an attempt was made to remove the bezel and in doing so, ground down the clicking surface. Besides that the bezel insert is a bit worn with some marks but doesn’t suggest it was abused or neglected. The dial, hands and markers are near perfect, which is always a true feat for a 40 year old dive watch. The markers of the 6458(and womans 2625) are unique in that they are lume filled circular borders with a high polish. Seiko had been filling rectangular borders with lume but this was an early example of them doing round markers. This mid sized diver is excellent for those with a small wrist or those who feel that the full sized divers are tool large at 42mm. Also, having a quartz movement along with a day/date function makes the 6458 perfect for everyday wear however they are very much a tool watch - perfect for camping, hiking, barbecuing and the like.
