Seiko King Quartz

This King Quartz model 4823-8100 is a very handsome watch. It has the “B” variant of the 48xx series movement which is an improved design with smaller battery and housing. However, this varient retains all of the robustness the 48xx series; full metal mainplate and bridge plates, full metal train of wheels, and jeweled seconds jumper, among other things. The front loading case with hooded lugs has some scuffs and dings, however its formal simplicity is what’s most legible. The dial has a small stain above the 10 o’clock marker, but is otherwise very clean and bright. Additionally the dial has a subtle vertical brushing that gives it a softness, and is less cool white and more eggshell. What’s unique about this particular KQ model is the gold rehaut(the spacer ring between the dial and crystal) which is not common among other Seikos of the time.

This is an excellent every day watch, highly functional with a very accurate quartz movement and day and date calendar. It is easily dressed up as the dial, hands and case are very minimal - sporty on a metal bracelet or more formal on a black leather strap. This is a set it and forget it watch, at least until it gets noticed.
